A profound number of life’s journeys begin from unplanned circumstances – and the path that I walk in my life has certainly been a testament to that. Let me tell you a little about how I came to be a Reiki Master, a Life Coach, and an EAL Facilitator – with my own unique combination of skills and passion.
Mine has been a journey of circumstance. I became a Reiki Master after witnessing the power of energy healing when my dad was in the final stages of his battle with cancer. I decided then that I wanted to explore the power of healing … but it wasn’t until a couple of years later when a very dear friend lost her battle with brain cancer that I took the training to became a Reiki practitioner, and later a Reiki Master. Reiki itself is a journey of self healing as much as it is a decision to want to help others. Essential to my own inner healing has been spending countless hours doing Reiki on horses, as well as people.
Like most people, at times I felt unfilled in many areas of my life. At one point I asked myself “Is this all that my life is going to be?” In that moment I felt very dark and hopeless, yet something very deep inside of me knew that there had to be more and so I began the exploration that has led me to where I am in my life today. Realizing that I wanted more than a 9-to-5 job, I wanted to do something with my life that could inspire, encourage and heal other people. Could I combine my years working in business, my years of being with horses, my healing, my personal journey and the desire to help others into something meaningful? The answer was YES!
I had the opportunity to see Oprah Winfrey when she came to our city on a speaking tour a couple of years ago. The one thing that really stuck with me ( I mean there are a lot of things), but the one thing that truly stands out from her words was that the true path of fulfillment is to live a life in service of others. At the time I didn’t fully understand what she meant, but today I get it.
I became a Life Coach after a very dear friend of mine kept talking about this Life Coach training program that he had just finished. He was raving about it. I had always expressed a desire to do some sort of equine assisted learning as I really wanted to combine the powerful healing magic of horses with my life experience and healing background. I just wasn’t sure how I was going to do it. Then he invited me to attend an equine-based coaching workshop in California. This program was based on Martha Beck’s coaching principles and during that weekend I experienced profound healing – partly from the horse weekend, and partly from the coaching of my amazing friend. I became curious and I started digging into Martha’s background, wanting to know who this lady was – and she blew me away. I signed up for the life coach training program six months after that trip, and I can say with certainty it felt like a homecoming for my soul. Her teachings resonate so strongly with me and I know that what I learned can be invaluable to anyone.
There is so much needless suffering in the world–suffering caused by our own thoughts. If I can help you to understand and to reverse these negative thoughts you too can be happy right now, right where you are. You don’t have to wait until you win the lottery. You don’t have to wait until you get that new job.
Essentially every single person has everything they need inside of them to be happy right now. Sometimes all you need is someone to show you the way.
