Reiki (“Rei” meaning Universe and “Ki” meaning Life Force Energy) is a gentle, non-invasive healing modality that is said to have been used for healing in Tibet thousands of years ago and was rediscovered in the nineteenth century by a Buddhist monk named Dr. Mikao Usui.
Reiki works by flowing healing energy, which we are all made of, from the hands of the Reiki practitioner through the energy field activating the body’s own natural ability to heal. Reiki goes to the deepest level where many illnesses originate and releases congested energy, cleansing the body of toxins and helping to create a state of balance. The Reiki practitioner goes through a series of hand positions including the head, stomach, back and feet, however other positions may be used based on the clients’ needs. A Reiki treatment feels like a wave of comforting, peaceful love and light running through your body and you may feel a tingle, coolness or heat. Reiki promotes deep relaxation and feelings of well-being.
Clients remain fully clothed whether in a seated, standing or laying position. A treatment is generally 60-90 minutes long.
